Japanese Soldier's Diary

Carl Padovano obtained this copy of this unidentified
Japanese soldiers diary. It is dated March 13, 1945 which would have been as the conflict was still going on till March 22, 1945.

Japanese soldier's letter interpretation, which Carl Padovano had in a chest with all the items he had kept concerning the battle for Iwo Jima.
Note the dates: the battle continued until
March 26, 1945.

JAPANESE SOLDIERS DIARY

The battle for the Japanese volcanic windswept island of Iwo Jima was fought from February 19, 1945 to March 26, 1945.   This unidentified Japanese Soldier’s Diary was apparently translated and printed for the American soldiers to read on Iwo Jima on
March 13, 1945.  The Japanese soldier last day he records is February 27, 1945 and in his note he says it will be his last for they are unable to hold the island.

Carl Padovano, Jr. gave me this material, which his father and family had saved, only months before he past away on April 1, 2014 at the young age of 56.
