JAPANESE SOLDIERS DIARY The battle for the Japanese volcanic windswept island of Iwo Jima was fought from February 19, 1945 to March 26, 1945. This unidentified Japanese Soldier’s Diary was apparently translated and printed for the American soldiers to read on Iwo Jima on Carl Padovano, Jr. gave me this material, which his father and family had saved, only months before he past away on April 1, 2014 at the young age of 56.
